Liturgy and Music

Altar Linens: Linens are washed and pressed by a group of people that keep the Mass linens fresh and spotless.

Altar Servers:
A wonderful first opportunity for children to begin to serve their Lord and faith community. Any child/teen who has been baptized and celebrated 1st Communion, can be a candidate.

Church Choirs: 
Adult, Youth and Children's Choirs serve our parish by leading the congregation in song at our liturgies.  The Children's Choir (ages 5+) serves monthly at the 12pm Mass and rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:00pm (except during the month of July).  The Youth Ensemble (ages 14+) serves weekly at the 5pm Mass and rehearses on Tuesdays at 7:00pm.  The Adult Choir (ages 14+) serves weekly at the 10am Mass and rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:45pm.  For more information about the Adult, Children's Choirs or Youth Ensemble please contact Sean Davis through the parish office. 

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist: This group of special ministers assists the Mass celebrant with the distribution of the Eucharist. Some of these ministers also meet the continuing spiritual needs of the parishioners who are homebound or institutionalized.(See “Ministry to the Sick”)  Contact Leonarda Serna through the parish office 657-0200 x 211.

Readers: This ministry proclaims the 1st and 2nd readings during the Mass. They meet once a week on Thursday at 7pm in the church to prepare for the Sunday readings.

Ministers to the Sick and Shut-Ins: These ministers serve people hospitalized, in nursing homes or confined to private homes, providing them an opportunity to pray and to receive the Eucharist. Any practicing Catholic 18 or older may apply. Training program provided.

Sacristans: This ministry prepares the liturgies ensuring everything is in order for the Celebration at hand.  Contact through the parish office 657-0200.

Ushers: Ushers assist at parish liturgies whenever needed. At Mass, they help find seating, take up collections and supervise Communion lines.

Parish Organizations

St. John Neumann Junior High School and High School GYM Club Youth Groups: These youth groups provide opportunities to become actively involved with the parish and community. The groups meeting times are posting in the parish bulletin.  Contact: Lori Gabriel, Director of Youth Ministry,  Lori Gabriel 657-0200 x 214.

SJNC Marthas and Marys Women’s Ministry Group:
  This is an organization that welcomes women of the parish 18 years of age or older. The group fosters friendship amongst women of faith and emulates Martha and Mary through prayer and works. This group is very active in conducting fund raising events that assist numerous ministries in the Parish. They also provide hospitality at parish functions.  Meetings are 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm. Contact through the parish office 657-0200

SJNC Men’s Club: This is an organization open to men of the parish 21 years of age or older. It provides fellowship and also supports parish activities when called upon. Voluntary dues are $25 per year. Meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7pm.

Social Ministries

Outreach: Outreach helps individuals and families in need with a Food Pantry. Outreach is open Wednesdays 9am–12noon.

Parish Life Ministry:  This ministry nurtures opportunities to celebrate our faith and culture while encouraging unity in diversity in our parish family and community.

Meetings are published in the parish bulletin.  You must be an adult 21 years of age or older to participate in this ministry.

"Laudato Si" Ministry:  This is a social justice ministry with the motto: "Caring for All God's Creation."  Meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of the month at 2pm in Room 122.  Contact Marsha Rodriguez through parish office at (702)321-9565

SURSUM CORDA Gift Shop Helpers: Gift shop is open before and after every Mass and for special events. To volunteer to work in the gift shop contact through the parish office 657-0200

Office Volunteers:
These helpers do a variety of clerical jobs such as reception, bulletin stuffing, filing and preparing bulk mailings.
